Understanding Choghadiya
Choghadiya (also spelled Chaughadiya) divides the day and night into 8 periods each, ruled by different planets. Each period has a quality: Amrit (nectar - best for all), Shubh (auspicious), Labh (gain) and Char (movement) are favourable for starting new work, while Rog, Kaal and Udveg are traditionally avoided for important activities.
