An elected moment — a date and time chosen so the panchang of that moment suits the act being started. It is read from the tithi, the weekday, the nakshatra, the yoga and the karana, together with the day's barred windows.
Because the tradition rejects rather than averages. A Rikta tithi (4th, 9th, 14th), Amavasya, the Vishti (Bhadra) karana or an inauspicious yoga each rule a day out on their own, and over a year those overlap onto about half the calendar. We show the count honestly instead of quietly softening it.

Each has materially different formulations across sources, so they are listed as caveats rather than folded into a score.
