Its window opens at 10:31 AM and runs to 6:37 AM the next morning. This guide explains how such a date is chosen and what to check before you take the keys.

What makes a date right for buying a vehicle
A vehicle muhurat is the time when three things line up: the nakshatra the Moon is in, the tithi, and the weekday. Our dates use these rules:
- Nakshatra: one of twelve: Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha and Revati. The movable (chara) ones, Punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, Dhanishta and Shatabhisha, are the classic choice for anything that moves.
- Tithi: Tritiya, Panchami, Shashthi, Ashtami, Dashami, Ekadashi or Trayodashi of either paksha, Purnima, or Krishna Pratipada.
- Weekday: any day except Tuesday and Saturday.
- Periods left out: Pitru Paksha and an adhika month. A window that only begins late at night, or lasts under five minutes, is also dropped.

How the dates spread across 2027
Every month of 2027 has at least one date, so you rarely have to wait long. September has the fewest because Pitru Paksha takes up 16 to 30 September.

The Dhanteras window needs one more check
Many families want a new vehicle on Dhanteras. On Friday, 6 November 2026 the muhurat opens at 10:31 AM, but Rahu Kaal in New Delhi runs from 10:43 AM to 12:05 PM that day. A window tells you the panchang is suitable; it does not remove Rahu Kaal. So for the actual moment of delivery, aim for the 12 minutes before 10:43 AM, or better, any time after 12:05 PM. Check Rahu Kaal for your own city on the day, because it moves with local sunrise.
Which moment counts
Custom varies. Booking and paying are usually treated as paperwork, and the moment that matters is when you take delivery and first drive the vehicle. If the showroom can only hand over on a set day, ask them to keep the vehicle ready and collect it inside your window. Many families then do a small puja: a tilak on the vehicle, a coconut, and a short prayer before the first drive.
If you must buy on a day that is not listed, a dealer offer or a work need is a good enough reason. Pick a favourable choghadiya that day and avoid Rahu Kaal. A muhurat is a matter of tradition and comfort, and it does not replace a test drive, a fair price or safe driving.
