Jaimini Sutram, translated and presented in English by Prof. P. S. Sastri and published by Ranjan Publications, brings one of the foundational texts of Vedic astrology to an English-speaking audience. The Jaimini Sutras form the basis of the Jaimini school of Jyotish — a classical system that diverges in important ways from Parashari astrology, employing unique concepts such as Chara Karakas, Pada Lagnas, and special aspect rules.
The Jaimini system is named after the sage Jaimini, whose sutras encode a sophisticated astrological framework believed to complement the Parashari tradition. Concepts such as the Atmakaraka — the planet with the highest degree, thought to represent the soul's primary desire — are central to this school. Practitioners traditionally use Jaimini methods to shed light on themes of dharma, soul purpose, longevity, and the timing of life events through unique dasha systems.
