Ekakshi Nariyal — literally meaning one-eyed coconut — is an exceedingly rare natural phenomenon. An ordinary coconut displays three dark spots at its crown, interpreted in Indian tradition as two eyes and one mouth. When only a single spot appears, the coconut is considered especially sacred. Because of its rarity, the Ekakshi Nariyal is treated as a samigri, an auspicious ritual item, and is traditionally placed in a home shrine or puja space wrapped in red cloth. Devotees of Goddess Lakshmi hold it in particular reverence.
In the Vedic and Tantric tradition, the Ekakshi Nariyal is associated with Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and fortune. Its single eye is symbolically linked to concentrated divine energy. The item is traditionally kept by those who wish to invite prosperity and remove financial obstacles, and it is believed to carry a unique spiritual charge derived from its natural rarity. Placement guidance from a practised priest or astrologer is recommended for best results.
