Mangal Chandika Stotram (मंगल चण्डिका स्तोत्रम्) – Lyrics, Meaning & Benefits

Mangal Chandika Stotram (मंगल चण्डिका स्तोत्रम्) is a powerful Sanskrit hymn to Goddess Mangala Chandika — a benevolent yet protective form of Adi Shakti (Maa Durga). Recorded in the Brahmavaivarta Purana and the Devi Bhagavata Purana, it was first recited by Bhagwan Shiva himself to invoke the Goddess's grace, protection and mangal (auspiciousness). It is recited above all on Tuesdays (Mangalvar).

मंगल चण्डिका स्तोत्रम् क्या है? · About the Stotram

"Mangal" means auspiciousness — and also the planet Mars (Mangal Graha); "Chandika" is the radiant, fierce-yet-loving form of the Mother Goddess who is the source of all wellbeing. The hymn appears in the Prakriti Khanda of the Brahmavaivarta Purana and in the ninth Skandha of the Devi Bhagavata. In it, Lord Shiva, caught in difficulty, praises the Goddess as the remover of every misfortune and the giver of every auspiciousness — and the Purana tells us that whoever then worships her with this stotram is forever blessed with mangal.

The Goddess Chandika is described in the Durga Saptashati as Chamunda, and is revered as the combined power of Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati — which is why the stotram is valued for protection, prosperity and peace alike.

स्तोत्रम् के लाभ · Significance & Benefits

In the devotional tradition, sincere recitation (paath) of the Mangal Chandika Stotram is believed to bring:

  • Relief in marriage & Mangal-dosha — it is especially recited by Manglik individuals and to clear delays and obstacles in finding a suitable match.
  • Auspiciousness (mangal) and the removal of misfortune (amangal) from one's life.
  • Harmony at home — peace between husband and wife and the easing of family disputes.
  • Stability of wealth (Lakshmi) and relief from debt and money troubles.
  • Protection from obstacles and disputes over home, land and property, and the blessings of Maa Chandika.

These are matters of faith and tradition; the stotram is a spiritual practice and is not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice.

पाठ विधि · How to Recite (Paath Vidhi)

  1. Tuesday (Mangalvar) is the most auspicious day; recite in the morning after bathing, in a clean and quiet place.
  2. Place an image of Maa Chandika / Durga on a clean red cloth; light a diya (ghee or sesame oil), and offer red flowers (hibiscus), sindoor and a simple prasad.
  3. Begin with the seed mantra (ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं…), then the dhyana, and then recite the stotram with a calm, focused mind — softly and with attention to its meaning.
  4. Conclude with the Goddess's aarti and distribute the prasad. Many devotees keep a weekly Tuesday paath.
  5. Sincerity and a steady mind matter far more than ritual perfection.
