Numerology (Ank Jyotish): How to Find Your Mulank, Bhagyank and Name Number
In numerology, or ank jyotish, two numbers come from your date of birth. Your mulank (birth number) comes from the day alone, and your bhagyank (life path number) comes from the full date. A third, the name number, comes from the letters of your name. You can work out all three by hand in a minute.

How to find your mulank
Add the digits of the day you were born until one digit remains. Born on the 15th: 1 + 5 = 6. Born on the 29th: 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2. The month and year do not matter.
How common each mulank is
The nine numbers are not equally common, simply because of how the calendar falls. In a normal year of 365 days:

So being a mulank 1 is a third more likely than being a mulank 9. It says nothing about the number itself, only about the calendar.
How to find your bhagyank
Add every digit of the full date. For 15-08-1990: 1 + 5 + 0 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 33. Keep reducing to one digit, except that 11, 22 and 33 are kept as master numbers. So this date is a life path 33, which reduces to 6 if you do not use master numbers. Our numerology calculator does this for you.
How to find your name number
Chaldean numerology gives each letter a value from 1 to 8:

Take a made-up name, Asha Verma. ASHA = 1 + 3 + 5 + 1 = 10. VERMA = 6 + 5 + 2 + 4 + 1 = 18. Together that is 28, then 2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. Spelling changes the answer, so use one spelling consistently. The lucky name check compares the result with your birth numbers.
